May .... May Flowers bless You! (Drafted in May 2016)

May flowers!

I was touched this week by my eight year old son's attempt to thank some special teachers in his life. He wanted to spend his own money on flowers for them. Once we found the rose bouquets that we could mix to make two beautiful arrangements arrangements, it was off to the work of rearranging them as gifts. He kept thinking of more and more special women he wanted to gift as a Thank you! He ended up making two bouquets into 3 red and white rose arrangements with greenery. Then he managed to give away one to another friend who was visiting and does nice things for all my kids. So now... He is anxious to go back to the store to buy his sacraments teacher some flowers. He sees her on Sundays and he had already ran out! He's wanted to get her roses since his classes ended at the beginning of May. I'm touched by his generous loving nature and thoughtfulness. This is quite an expenditure for a little man to be willing to spend his $20 on. May you be blessed with flowers before May ends! Hopefully, if you are really fortunate, a sweet soul will bring you a dandelion picked with all the love one could imagine! Or the neighbor's violets.... Happy May!

  1. What a beautiful soul, a wonderful young man.

I had a student bring me a greenery and sunflower bouquet in the fall. It was the softness of a world often believed to be long gone. Pure beauty. A bright spot in my inner classroom.

Hahaha, I recall taking Dandelion bouquets to neighbors as a child. One particular woman had a whole yard full of Dandelions. My sisters and I thought she was the luckiest woman around. To have such a wealth of yellow flowers in her very own yard, well!

My sisters and I did not pick the neighbor's violets. However, we had difficulty understanding Mom's sorrow over the short stemmed crocuses we plucked from her garden. Although, she later assured us, they did look pretty in the little cup on the windowsill, even if it wasn't a bud vase, as some wealthy people (not us) may own for their windowsills.
